Heavy Duty Scrubber and Potholder
Materials Needed:  small amounts of cotton worsted weight yarn, small amount of nylon plastic canvas yarn, size H and size J crochet hooks, yarn needle.

Special Stitches:  Long Single Crochet  (LSC)  Insert hook in space indicated ( in this pattern it will be two rows below the row you are working on), pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook.

Scrubber:  you will make two of these, the first in nylon yarn and the second in cotton yarn.

CH 14

Row 1:  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across.  (13 sc)

Row 2:  CH 3 (counts as 1st DC), turn, * skip next two stitches, in next stitch do, (dc,sc,dc)*  repeat from * across to last 3 stitches.  Skip next two stitches, dc in last stitch.

Row 3:  CH1, turn.  SC in same stitch, ch 3, *sc in next sc, ch 3*  Repeat from * across,  SC in last stitch.

Row 4:  CH1, turn.  SC in same stitch.  *(LSC in skipped stitch of row 2 ) twice, sc in next sc*  Repeat from * across.

Row 5:  Ch 1, turn.  Sc in same stitch and each stitch across (13 sc).

Repeat rows 2-5, four more times.  Finish off with Nylon yarn.  Repeat pattern in cotton yarn.  DO NOT FINISH OFF after completing with cotton yarn.

Joining:  Place pieces evenly together.  Join with a sl st in the corner.  Ch 1 Sc in corner sp 3 times.  SC evenly around piece with 3 sc in each corner.  Join with sl st to first sc.

Edging:  Ch 3 (1st dc) sc in same space, dc in same space.  *Skip next 2 stitches, in next stitch do (dc,sc,dc)*  repeat * around.  Join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.  Finish off and weave in all ends.


Potholder:  Use size J hook and 2 strands of cotton yarn held together.

Ch 29
Row 1:  SC in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across.  (28 sc)

Repeat rows 2-5 above a total of 9 times.

Edging:  SC evenly around potholder working 3 sc in each corner.
