Special Stitch: Long Triple Crochet (here in abbreviated LTC). Yarn over twice, insert hook in stitch indicated which will be one row below the row you are currently working on. Draw up a loop, draw through two loops on hook, repeat 2 more times. LTC completed.
IN Main Color, CH 45.
Row 1: SC in 2nd hook from ch and each ch across. (44sc)
Row 2: CH 3 (counts as 1st DC now and throughout), turn. DC in next two stitches, ch 2, *skip next two stitches, DC in next 2 stitches, ch 2* Repeat from * across. DC in last 3 stitches. (10 ch 2 spaces)
Row 3: CH 3, turn. DC in next two stitches. LTC (long triple crochet) in each of the next two skipped stitches on previous row. *DC in next 2 DC, LTC in each of next two skipped stitches on previous row.* Repeat from * across. DC in last 3 DC.
Row 4: CH 1, turn. SC in back loop only of 1st stitch and each stitch across. 44 SC.
Row 5: Without cutting yarn, slip Contrasting Color in loop left on hook of last sc. CH 1, turn. SC in back loop of 1st stitch and each stitch across. 44 SC.
Row 6: CH 5 (counts as 1st DC and first ch 2 space now and throughout). Skip next two stitches, *DC in next two stitches, ch 2, skip next two stitches* Repeat across. DC in last stitch. (11 ch 2 spaces)
Row 7: CH 3, turn. LTC in next two skipped stitches of previous row, *DC in next two stitches, LTC in next 2 skipped stitches of previous row* Repeat across. DC in last DC.
Row 8: CH 1, turn. SC in back loop only of 1st stitch and each stitch across. (44 SC)
Row 9: Do not cut yarn. Pick up Main Color by slipping through loop left on hook. CH 1, turn. SC in back loop only of 1st stitch and each stitch across. (44 sc)
repeat rows 2-9 TWICE more, then repeat rows 2-4 one more time. Finish off main color.
Edging:
Round 1: Pick up contrasting color where you last finished with it by sl st and then ch 1 and sc in same stitch. SC evenly around. Join with sl st to 1st SC.
Round 2: CH 2 (counts as 1st hdc). HDC in next stitch and each stitch around. Join with sl st to 2nd ch of beginning ch 2. Finish off and weave in all ends.
