Entire piece is worked while holding 2 strands of yarn together.
With two strands of red, Ch 14
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch formhook and each ch across (13 sc)
Row 2: ch 1, turn. sc in same stitch and each stitch across. (13 sc)
Row 3: ch 1, turn. 2 sc in same stitch, sc in next 11 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch (15 sc)
Row 4: ch 1, turn. 2 sc in same stitch, sc in next 13 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch (17 sc)
Row 5: ch 1, turn. 2 sc in same stitch, sc in next 15 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch (19 sc)
Row 6: ch 1, turn. sc in same stitch and each stitch across (19 sc)
Rows 7-17: repeat row 6.
Row 18: ch 1, turn. Dec over 1st two stitches, sc in next 15 stitches, dec over last 2 stitches (17 sc)
Row 19: ch 1, turn. Dec over 1st two stitches, sc in next 13 stitches, dec over last 2 stitches (15 sc)
Row 20: ch 1, turn. Dec over 1st two stitches, sc in next 4 stitches (leave remaining stitches unworked)
Row 21: ch 1, turn. Dec over 1st two stitches, sc in next stitch, dec over next two stitches. Finish off.
Row 22: With the unworked stitches on the right, join 2 strands of red with a sl st to 1st sc, ch 1, Dec over 1st two stitches, sc in next 4 stitches (leave last 3 stitches in the middle unworked).
Row 23: ch 1, turn. Dec in 1st two stitches, sc in next stitch, dec over next two stitches. Finish off.
Row 24: With 2 strands of green, join with a sl st in 1st sc of unworked 3 sc from row 20. Ch 1, sc in same stitch. Ch 11: dc in 5th ch from hook and next ch, hdc in next 2 chains, sc in next 2 chains (first leaf made). SC in next stitch. {SC in next SC} Ch 11: dc in 5th ch from hook and next ch, hdc in next 2 chains, sc in next 2 chains (2nd leaf made). SL ST in same st as {}. Finish off leaving a 6 inch tail.
Finishing: Using 6 inch green tail, tack down one corner of leaf to apple (refer to photo). Weave in all ends.
Finished size about 6 inches across.
